Gabriela Bodin (born in 1983, in Focsani) recently distinguished herself as a promising artist of the new wave of figurative painting, both in Italy, her adoptive country where she lives and works, as well as on the international scene.
A graduate of the Focsani Art Highschool ‘Gh. Tatarescu’, Gabriela continued her studies at Istituto Professionale Tecnico di Moda Colonna Gatti (Nettuno, Italy). The style that established her is the portrait, realized in a contemporary manner that almost always suggests a heavy melancholy, filled with meaning and drowned in loneliness. Her portraits have sad gazes, sometimes frightened, other times anxious, and represent our attempt to auto-isolate in our own private world.
The personal art show at the Tiny Griffon Gallery, ‘People and Beasts’ (‘Menschen und Tiere’) fully illustrates the style that established the artist and brought her numerous awards and invitations to participate at art fairs and international art creation camps. Alongside the portraits that contributed to her notoriety, the show will include animal heads and a new series featuring crocodiles.
